How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (2024)

Here's a rundown of who Oregon football has landed at each position group and who a few more possible adds might be too.

Erik Skopil

Oregon football's 2025 class is far from complete. It already features 15 verbal commitments and that numberwill certainly grow before all is said and done.

The class is ranked 7th nationally andsecond amongBig 10 schools, according to 247Sports.This year's class could prove the best in program history. The Ducksremainincontentionfornumeroustop uncommitted prospects.

Since the class is likely at least halffull right now, it's time to take stock in what all the Ducks are getting in 2025 and how that might impact the roster 13 months from now when the 2025 season kicks off.

That's what this article will do, take a look at how the 2025 class might shape the program going forward, and provide additional nameswho might be added too.

Quarterback

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (2)

Commitments: Four-starAkili Smith Jr.

What's the impact:Smith is the son of former Oregon great Akili Smith. He's chosen to follow in his father's footsteps with the Ducks. Smith has great physical tools and is every bit of 6-foot-5 with long limbs. I've compared him to Justin Herbert from a frame perspective at the same age. Like Herbert, he has room to fill out. As a passer, Smith may need to refine some of his throwing mechanics, but is coming off a strong junior season at Lincoln. He competed 63.8 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. Smith has been a great peer recruiter and has put in efforts to help round out this class with other top-tier 2025 prospects.

Will they take more?: Maybe. The Ducks have their guy and he's a legacy recruit with high upside. It's also possible they seek out a second QB if the right fit becomes available.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits: None.

Running Back

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (3)

Commitments:Four-star Dierre Hill and four-star Jordon Davison

What's the impact:Ra'Shaad Samples was only hired in April, but has alreadyreeled in a pair of the nation's better ball carriers. Hill'sfilm is as dynamicas you'll see this cycle. He scores on nearly every play over a six-minute span. While Davison is among the better between-the-tackle runners this class. The combination is perfect and provides the program with a thunder and lightning backfield for the future. Given that Oregon has utilizedmultiple runners within their offense in each of Dan Lanning's seasons in Eugene, a backfield haul like this is quite significant, and especially so in the Big 10 conference.

Will they take more?:No, unless Michael Terry III (the nation's top-rated athlete) ultimately winds up playing there.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:Michael Terry III.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:None.

Wide Receiver

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (4)

Commitments: Five-star Dakorien Moore, four-starDallas Wilson, four-star Isaiah Mozee and four-star Cooper Perry.

What's the impact:Not only does Moore headline Oregon's 2025 class, but the electric wideout has surpassed Kayvon Thibodeaux as the highest-rated commitment in program-history. His addition has given the Ducks the best wide receiver haul in the nation and some cornerstone pieces to build around. Moore is a game-changer at every level and fits in nicely with the skillsets of Wilson, Mozee and Perry. All four prospects will offer the Ducks something different. There does remain some question of whether the Ducks will ultimatelyhold on to Mozee. His father was hired by Nebraska earlier this summer.

Will they take more?:Maybe. Should Mozee wind up with the Cornhuskers, the Ducksmaycircle back with other prospects.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:Michael Terry III.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Chris Lawson (Washington).

Tight End

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (5)

Commitments: None.

What's the impact: Losing Da'Saahn Brame last month hurt. The Ducks had hosted a slew of the country's best at the position, and with Brame now a Tennessee pledge, Oregon's options have dwindled. Terry's name is worth bringing up again. The versatile offensive prospect could be a fit at tight end and is still on the board. He was on campus late last month for the school's Saturday Night Live event. If Terry commits, he'd act as more of a hybrid tight end similar to Kenyon Sadiq, and adding a bigger bodied player along with himmight make sense. The Ducks also slid in with an offer to Michigan commit Andrew Olesh earlier this week. Olesh is the nation's No. 4 ranked tight end. Other options could include five-starLinkon Cure, who picked Kansas State over Oregon in July, or the state of Oregon's top prospect Baron Naone, a current Washington commit.

Will they take more?:You bet.Coming up empty-handed at tight end is an impossibility.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:Michael Terry III.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Linkon Cure (Kansas State) and Kaleb Edwards (Alabama).

Offensive Line

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (6)

Commitments: Four-star Ziyare Addison, four-star Alai Kalaniuvaluand three-star Demetri Manning

What's the impact: There'a a ton to like about the three linemen A'lique Terry has closed on.Addison is a twitchy tackle athlete in the mold of anAjani Cornelius, Kalaniuvalu could be Oregon's center of the future and has drawn comparisons to Jackson Powers-Johnson while Manning is the definition of a road grader. While it remains early in their development, it's not hard to project how the trio could work together at the next level. The Ducks will work to acquire more prospects this cycle. Three-star tackle Austin Pay was on campus this summer, and the Ducks have been linked to five-star Michael Fasusi as well. It wouldn't be a surprise to see new targets emerge this fall.

Will they take more?: Absolutely. One should expect the staff to landaround four orfive O-Line prospects most cycles, this one included.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:Austin Pay (June 7).

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Aaron Dunne (Utah) and Juan Gaston (Georgia).

Defensive Line

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (7)

Commitments: Four-starMatthew Johnson.

What's the impact:The Ducks have done a ton of damage the past two cycles along the defensive line, but are off to a slower start in 2025. Johnson remains one of the top D-Lineman out west, and looked the part at last month's SNL camp. He projects to play on the interior at the next level. Josiah Sharma was committed for less than a month before flipping to Texas, and leaves a gap in the class. Taking a smaller D-Line class adds up given the large numbers of the past two cycles, but a one-player class would be a head-scratcher. The Ducks are likely to broaden their horizons, while also kicking the tires on prospects like Sharma and Trajen Odom, who visited Oregonin Junebut have committed elsewhere.

Will they take more?: Yes. It would be a bizarre if Johnson winds up the only addition this cycle. Look for the Ducks to take two more at a minimum.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:None.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Justin Hill (Ohio State), Trajen Odom (Ohio State) and Josiah Sharma (Texas).

Linebacker

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (8)

Commitments:Four-star Nasir Wyatt

What's the impact:While I consider Wyatt to be more of an edge player than at true inside linebacker, he's listed as such in our rankings. Wyatt is an absolute menace and arguably the best pass rusher in his class. At under 220 pounds, he recorded 14 sacks as a junior and 13 as a sophom*ore at powerhouse Mater Dei. Wyatt's film is as fun to watch as any this cycle, and prove him to be an absolute terror on pass downs. The Ducks will need to acquire a few true inside backers to round out this class though. Many of the top targets have already committed elsewhere. The biggest name to know currently is five-star Jonah Williams, who may also be a fit at safety for the Ducks.

Will they take more?: Gosh yes. In my eyes, they've yet to add a single inside linebacker.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits: Jonah Williams.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Noah Mikhail (Texas A&M),Keylan Moses (LSU) andGavin Nix (Miami).

Cornerback

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (9)

Commitments: Four-starDorian Brew and four-star Brandon Finney.

What's the impact:The Ducks have added twoelite corners in Brew and Finney. Both are 6-foot are taller with excellent recovery speed.Brew is a well-built press coverage corner. This guy eats up routes at the line of scrimmage and locks down his side of the field. He also has track speed with a current personal-best of 10.75 in the 100 meters. Finney is the prototype for the position at 6-foot-2 with long arms. He also has a track background. The Ducks have two of the nation's very best committed, and the rankings reflect that with Brew and Finney ranked seventh and 11th respectively in the nation.

Will they take more?:Possibly. If they stand pat with these two elite corners, they'd be in fine shape, but adding another could help round out the class.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:None.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits:Na'eem Offord (Ohio State) and DJ Pickett (LSU).

Safety

How Oregon football's 2025 class is shaping up by position (10)

Commitments:Five-star Trey Mcnu*tt.

What's the impact:The Ducks went into Ohio State's backyard to snagthe nation's top-rated safety. Mcnu*tt checks all the boxes. He's sturdily-built, but also extremely explosive with good instincts in both run and pass situations. He has a history of making plays on both sides of the ball and is also a talented wide receiver. Oregon could use immediate help at the position in 2025, and Mcnu*tt could be the rare true frosh to crack the starting lineup on a Lanning-coached team.

Will they take more?: Yes. Snagging a second safety feels close to a necessity.

Uncommitted prospects who've taken official visits:Jonah Williams.

Committed prospects who've taken official visits: Omarion Robinson (Oklahoma).
