Four high school girls in uniforms walk silently on the barren earth. These girls are time travelers who had been sent 6000 years into the future, from their present in which the same day is endlessly repeated, in order to evade human extinction. They studied time travel in school, were examined by the aptitude test, and were sent to the future as told. What should they do now? They had no idea. The only thing they could take with them from the present was a light, toy-like cellphone. Of course, it receives no signal here. As the girls are walking, they see strange birds flying in the sky, and a discolored river in the distance. TV animation was announced in the 2nd and 3rd merger issue of "Weekly Shonen Sunday" released on December 12, 2012. It was broadcast from April to July 2013.
Arata: The Legend (アラタカンガタリ〜革神語〜, Arata Kangatari) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuu Watase. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since October 2008. A list of manga chapters of Arata: The Legend has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine since October 2008. The first volume was released on January 16, 2009, which ended with the twenty-fourth volume on September 18, 2015 when the tankōbon edition discontinued the publishing. Shogakukan started re-releasing the series in a two-in-one volume Remaster edition in a whole set of eighteen volumes in a total of 335 chapters.
