How To Sell Valuables & Stolen Goods In RDR2 (Fence Locations) (2024)

There are five main Fence locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 where players can pawn off their valuables and other stolen goods with no consequences. These locations also sell items such as weapons, documents, kits, masks, and other provisions and satchels. Importantly, if you gather the necessary items, they can help you craft trinkets and talismans as well.

Earning money fast in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be difficult, but there are ways to get around it and make things easier for yourself. This includes selling valuable items to various fences across the map, but it can also include other methods. Either way, if you want to offload your various loot from the bodies you left behind, you will have to find a Fence to sell it to.

Open Fence Locations

No Unlocks Needed

Selling jewelry, valuables, and any other ill-gotten goods can be done at any Fence location, three of which are availableas soon as you begin Chapter 2. However, there are two other Fence locations that can only be unlocked through quests, and they deal in very specific stolen goods. These locations are described in more detail below.

The three locations that you can immediately visit for any less specific stolen goods can be visited by horse or train, whichever is closest. The locations are shown in Rockworth’s YouTube video and the images above. However, there is one in Rhodes, which is closest to the campsite in Chapter 2, one in Van Horn in a shop along the docks, and one in Saint-Denis on the east side at the Pawnbroker.

You can start this mission by speaking to Hosea after being pointed in that direction by the previous mission in Chapter 2. His location near Emerald Ranch will be marked on your map so you can take a quick ride over from your campsite. When you arrive, you will be informed that Hosea wants to help a new associate named Seamus steal a stagecoach from his cousin.

You will then have to lead Hosea to the location indicated by Seamus. It’s near Carmody Dell, and you will first scope out the house. You will have to steal at least $45 before heading out the door and to the barn to steal the stagecoach.

You can only get the Gold Medal for this mission by completing clearing the house of all valuables. This will be much more difficult, and players will have to be extra sneaky, but it is possible. If you want to go for it to get 100% completion in Red Dead Redemption 2, this achievement will be easier to accomplish at night.

Once Hosea joins you, return the Stagecoach to Seamus, and you will unlock the fence. This Fence specializes in buying stolen stagecoaches, so you can always drive any vehicles you manage to take over straight into the Emerald Stable and claim the rewards for doing so.

Stealing Horses For Profit

This is a main story mission that will begin in Chapter 3 as you approach the Gray’s plantation. During the cutscene, you will be told that if you steal Braithwaite’s prize horses, you will get paid a fair chunk of change for them. As always, you will head off to complete this quest in Red Dead Redemption 2 with little thought.

Once inside the stable, you will be able to calm down the target horse, a white stallion, enough to lead him outside. However, you will get spotted and have to follow the stolen horses and your accomplices as you run away and get rid of the pursuers. After that, you will have to lasso the black stallion, as it will try to escape.

Ride to Clemens Point to sell the horses to Clay and Clive, who will not pay as much as you were led to believe. However, this location will now be unlocked as a Fence to sell any horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 that you have stolen. It is not recommended to sell any purchased horses, as they will pay far more for stolen than legally obtained horses.
